Borough resident David Antebi, 82, pleaded guilty yesterday to a reduced charge stemming from his arrest during last summer’s health-insurance reform ”town hall meeting” in Piscataway.

Meryl Frank to quit as mayor on Jan. 5

Meryl Frank has announced she will step down as mayor of Highland Park on Jan. 5.

The announcement, circulated this week among members of the borough Democratic Committee, ends months of speculation (and complaints from her critics) about when the three-term mayor would resign her post.

Another warning for schoolchildren

School officials notified parents yesterday that an unidentified motorist on Lawrence Street followed two borough schoolchildren on their way home yesterday afternoon. The driver was described as “a man in an older Buick” in an e-mail alert distributed to parents. Police are investigating the incident.
