Borough resident marks a decade of listing

An unofficial non-partisan events listing showcasing arts, entertainment, and municipal goings-on in and around Highland Park marks its first decade today.

Friends of Laurel, launched by borough resident Laurel Kornfeld as an e-group to promote a community production of the musical Sweeney Todd, has grown from 30 subscribers to some 500, according to Kornfeld.

Memorial service slated for Ivan Van Sertima, African-American scholar

The life and achievements of borough resident and African-American scholar Dr. Ivan Van Sertima will be celebrated in a memorial service Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. in Kirkpatrick Chapel, George and Somerset streets, College Avenue campus of Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
