Jewish choir to perform music from around the world

Jewish music from around the world will be performed by the Makhelat HaMercaz Jewish Choir of Central New Jersey on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 3 p.m. in the Highland Park Public Library, 31 North Fifth Avenue.

The choir, founded in 2003 by local cantors Anna West Ott and Sheldon Levin, encompasses some 50 singers from Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer, and Somerset counties.

The group’s repertoire includes songs in Yiddish, English, Hebrew, and Ladino, and offers religious, secular, classical, jazz, and pop selections.
