Welcome to the Highland Park Monitor, a new venture in Web-based community journalism, edited by yours truly, Steven Hart. The Monitor will offer news items and listings devoted exclusively to the residents and businesses of Highland Park, N.J. Please send in your social news (weddings, graduations, bar and bat mitzvahs, communions), professional news (promotions, hirings, business openings) and any other items of interest to the borough’s residents and merchants.
The Monitor exists exclusively on the Internet and will have no hard-copy print edition. I have launched the Monitor in response to the decline of the regional daily newspapers, which covered towns like Highland Park in ways that were spotty at best and now are even worse. As a journalist with over a quarter-century of experience, and a published author to boot, I aim to bring a professional approach to covering this community.
